Who is your Personal Trainer?
I’m not a TV junkie, but I confess! I love the Biggest Loser. It’s such an inspiration to watch those overweight contestants transform into athletes.
Even if you don’t watch the Biggest Loser, you’ve certainly heard of Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. Honestly, they both scare the daylights out of me. Especially Jillian. I once had a nightmare about her putting me through a torturous workout. (I can’t believe she left the show!)
What I love most about Bob and Jillian is their encouragement. Listen to the show for just a few minutes and you hear such amazing motivation. You can do it! Don’t you dare stop! You’re amazing! Keep moving forward! Believe in yourself! They want the contestants to step up and push through the pain. Oh yes, the contestants may scream, cry, or puke, but giving up is not an option.
Read that again: giving up is not an option.
The same rule applies to us. We are Daily Doctor Moms and giving up is not an option. We may be utterly exhausted, in tears and ready to throw in the towel, but we can’t resign this job. We cannot stop. The truth is that our children need us to be in their corner, fighting for them even when things get rough.
But how do you stay strong when you’re completely overwhelmed? The good news is that we have a trainer far better than Bob or Jillian. We have the God of the universe in our corner, encouraging us every step of the way.
Success begins with surrendering this job to the Lord and allowing Him to do the work through us. When we partner with God, our victory is a guarantee!
